The Ramsey Lewis Trio - Another Voyage

Ramsey Lewis released a number of great funky electric jazz records during the late sixties and seventies. Some of those releases included Funky Serenity, Sun Goddess, Solar Wind, Salongo and many others. My favorite release from the legendary pianists electric years however is probably his 1969 break-heavy album Another Voyage that he recorded with his trio, which featured Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire fame on percussion and Cleveland Eaton on bass. The funky groove-oriented album includes a number of great tracks including "If You've Got It, Flaunt It (Part I & II)", "Bold and Black", "Uhuru", and my favorite "Do What You Wanna". Even though this album preceded Sun Goddess and some of his other critically acclaimed electric titles, Another Voyage is Ramsey Lewis at his absolute best. Enjoy!
