Tonight I will be deejaying an early set at the El Amigo Bar (3355 Mission Street, San Francisco) starting around 10pm. I will be spinning a lot of funky and soulful jazz grooves much like this one, titled "Sham Time" from Eddie Harris. This classic gem, which is featured on the 1968 album The Electrifying Eddie Harris, is easily one of my favorite tracks recorded by the late saxophonist and composer. A significant and groundbreaking recording that nicely blends Harris' mastery of the electronic varitone saxophone exploration with a funky Latin influenced backing groove that holds everything together brilliantly.
