Sofrito: International Soundclash

About 18 months ago, the European based tropical collective Sofrito teamed up with the superb label Strut to produce one of the best compilations of the year in Tropical Discotheque. This summer (July 24th approximately) the two entities have linked up again to release another highly anticipated compilation titled International Soundclash. Building off the last release, this compilation will include funky rare grooves from Trinidad, Colombia, Dominica, Congo, Cameroun and beyond. The record will also include fresh new exclusive gems from Grupo Canalon (a new project from Nidia Góngora), UK/Kenyan sensations Owiny Sigoma Band, and a great new edit from Tropical Treats. I received an advance copy of this compilation over a month ago and it's been on serious repeat every since. The brilliantly compiled record has the same high-impact intensity and heavy-grooving vibes that helped make the last release such a masterpiece. Simply no frills about it, this compilation is one of the year's best. The dynamic Sofrito-Strut team is quickly proving to be a necessary ingredient for any tropical underground dance party.
