This past week I was excited to pick up a used copy of Roy Ayers' 1974 jazz-funk masterpiece Change Up The Groove. Being a huge Roy Ayers fan, this classic release from the legendary vibraphonist had been on my wishlist for quite sometime. This record has an overall jazz influenced psych-funk feel, similar to many of the other records released by his group Ubiquity during the early seventies. Some of the highlights include "The Boogie Back", "Fikisha (To Help Someone To Arrive)", "Feel Like Makin' Love" and the title track opener "Change Up The Groove". Overall, a classic early release from Roy Ayers and his group Ubiquity. ENJOY!
