Let's end the week with a classic spiritual jazz masterpiece from Pharaoh Sanders in "Village Of The Pharaohs". This 3-part seventeen-minute gem was featured as the title track to the saxophone players 1973 album, which was released off on Impulse!. The heavily Afro-spiritual recording also features Joe Bonner (piano), Calvin Hill (bass), and Jimmy Hopps (drums), as well as a number of additional percussionists. Their are a number of amazing recordings by Pharaoh that brilliantly capture his powerful signature sound and "Village Of The Pharaohs" is certainly one of those tracks. Enjoy!
