Lee Morgan - Somethin' Cute

I wanted to start this week by featuring Lee Morgan's "Somethin' Cute" from his 1969 album Charisma. I featured the hard-bop gem on this week's radio show. This uptempo track, which was written by Morgan features a superb cast of jazz greats including both Jackie Maclean (alto) and Hank Mobley (tenor) on saxophone, Cedar Walton on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, with Billy Higgins holding it down on drums. Much like the rest of the record, "Somethin' Cute" is an uptempo hard-hittin' masterpeice that really captures the collective group in full stride. Just one of the many worthy selections from this great recording. Enjoy!
