On this week's radio show, I featured Duke Pearson's classic jazz gem "The Phantom". This is the title track to Pearson's incredible 1968 album, which also features Bobby Hutcherson (vibes), Jerry Dodgion (flute), Bob Cranshaw (bass), Mickey Roker (drums), Carlos "Potato" Valdes (congas), as well as many others. Much like the other selections on the record, "The Phantom" has an overall Brazilian-jazz feel that is much in part due to the melody textures laid down by Hutcherson. With this being Bobby Hutcherson's actual birthday, I thought this would be a fitting track to highlight. Enjoy!
