Ornette Coleman - Friends and Neighbors

Throughout Ornette Coleman's life, he has written and released a number of landmark recordings. One of the jazz great's most spiritual compositions came in 1970 on the Flying Dutchman released recording Friends and Neighbors: Ornette Live At Prince Street, with the title track "Friends and Neighbors". The album, as the title suggests, was recorded live at a place called 'Artists House' on Prince Street in New York, which was a performance space located above his apartment at the time. The record also features Dewey Redman on tenor, bassist Charlie Haden, drummer Ed Blackwell and on the vocal version of "Friends and Neighbors", a number of Ornette's neighborhood friends sing over the music. Overall, a solid recording from one of jazz music's most adventurous musicians.
