Feb 14-17: SFJAZZ Hotplate Festival
The 1st Annual SFJAZZ Hotplate Festival kicks off the Grand Opening of the Joe Henderson Lab at the SFJAZZ Center. The four-night festival begins on Thursday, February 14th with a celebration and tribute to the room's namesake by saxophonist Mitch Marcus. The remainder of the week continues with other local artists paying tribute to the masters, including drummer Josh Jones' salute to Ray Barretto, Tiffany Austin singing the music of Ella Fitzgerald, and an homage to Freddie Hubbard by trumpeter Mike Olmos. I(Pat Les Stache) will be deejaying a heavy-dose of choice jazz selections (many that appear on this site) throughout each night.
Each night will consist of 3 separate sets: 7PM, 9PM & 10:30PM. Tickets are NOW ON SALE and cost $10 per set. SFJAZZ Members receive a 20% discount.
Overall this should be a really good weekend of local Bay Area jazz and I'm very excited to be a part of it.
