With tomorrow being the 4th of July, it's time we get into some summertime grooves. Here is Melvyn Price's funky Latin gem "Behind Kungsträdgarden". This track was originally featured on the percussionist's 1974 album Rhythm and Blues, which was more recently reissued by the good people over at Wax Poetics. Generally I'm not a big fan of reissues, however given the almost impossible-to-find nature of the release, this is certainly one reissue worth checking out. The record has an overall funky Afro-Cuban feel, with a heavy dose of solid conga based percussion rhythms from Price leading the way. Simply put, an absolute Latin percussion masterpiece. Enjoy!
